Overcoming Barriers
We’RE Connected is a platform dedicated to uniting the energy sector community and fostering a representative, diverse, and people-focused renewable energy industry, free from traditional biases and exclusionary practices, for the benefit of everyone.
Vision
An Energy sector in Africa that is inclusive, diverse, and equitable—where women and underrepresented groups have equal access to leadership, business opportunities, and career advancement, driving sustainable growth and social dexterity across the industry.

SHIFTING INDUSTRY CULTURE
Advocating for inclusive hiring, leadership development, and procurement policies. Creating an open, collaborative platform that challenges biases and reshapes the industry's norms.
BUILDING LEADERSHIP PIPELINES
Mentorship programs that connect emerging professionals with established industry leaders. Career acceleration initiatives to help women break through the leadership glass ceiling.
SHAPING POLICY & INDUSTRY STANDARDS
Engaging with policymakers and regulatory bodies to institutionalize gender diversity in energy policies. Partnering with industry stakeholders to develop inclusive workplace standards and diversity targets.
CHAMPIONING WOMEN-LED INNOVATION AND ENTERPRISE
Supporting women-led startups and businesses with access to funding, training, and market opportunities. Advocating for inclusive procurement to increase the number of women-led businesses in renewable energy supply chains.
Since our founding in 2020, We’RE Connected has grown into a pan-African community of 3000+ professionals, partnering with key industry bodies such as SAPVIA, SAWEA, and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC); as well as the GIZ and the UNDP.
As one of only twelve recognised national associations for women in renewable energy worldwide, We’RE Connected is uniquely positioned to drive systemic change across the African continent.

Enable social dexterity in the renewable energy sector by equipping women and underrepresented groups with the tools, networks, and opportunities needed to navigate and excel in the industry.

Address systemic barriers that prevent the full participation of marginalized groups, ensuring that diversity and inclusion are at the core of the sector’s evolution.
